Melt-to-Make® Featured in the Daily Hampshire Gazette: Finding Our Sweet Spot in Gummy Manufacturing

Melt-to-Make® was recently featured by the Daily Hampshire Gazette in an article highlighting our growth, our roots in Northampton, Massachusetts, and the gummy manufacturing road block that started it all.

The article takes readers inside our Northampton facility and explores how a simple idea has grown into a gummy manufacturing solution now used by more than 1,000 companies across 16 countries.

For us, the feature represents more than company growth. It highlights the reason Melt-to-Make was created in the first place: gummy manufacturing shouldn't have to start from scratch.

From a Production Problem to a Manufacturing Solution

Before Melt-to-Make was founded in 2018, producing a consistent gummy presented a significant challenge for manufacturers without extensive confectionery experience.

The ingredients themselves may seem simple, but the science behind a stable finished gummy is anything but. Temperature, ingredient ratios, gelling agents, acidity and timing can all influence the finished product.

Melt-to-Make began when our founders saw firsthand how difficult it could be to reproduce the same gummy formulation consistently from one production environment to another. Creating the gummy base ahead of time provided a straightforward solution to that problem.

That solution eventually became Melt-to-Make®.

Today, our pre-formulated gummy bases give manufacturers a standardized starting point for production, allowing their teams to focus on what differentiates the finished product, including active ingredients, dosing, flavor, color and the consumer experience.

Built for Consistent Production

As gummy manufacturing has grown across cannabis, nutraceuticals and supplements, the needs of manufacturers have evolved with it.

Consistency is no longer just about making a good gummy. Manufacturers need processes that can be repeated across batches, employees, production lines and facilities.

That is where a standardized gummy foundation can make a substantial difference.

Rather than individually sourcing, warehousing, measuring and managing the core ingredients required to formulate a gummy from scratch, Melt-to-Make provides manufacturers with a pre-formulated base designed to simplify the production process.

As Co-Founder and Vice President of Products and R&D Sarah McLaughlin explained to the Gazette, there is significant science behind gummy production. Melt-to-Make builds that science into the base, helping manufacturers produce stable finished gummies without needing to develop the entire foundation themselves.

Growing Alongside Our Customers

The Daily Hampshire Gazette also highlighted just how much Melt-to-Make has grown since 2018.

Melt-to-Make was named to the 2026 Inc. 5000, following 163% revenue growth from 2022 to 2025. Today, we estimate our bases are used by approximately 7% of U.S. cannabis companies selling marijuana gummies.

Our production capabilities are growing alongside that customer base.

Our Northampton facility currently produces an average of approximately four tons of gummy base per day, with our existing production system capable of producing 300 kilograms per hour. We are now adding a new production system capable of producing 1,000 kilograms per hour, dedicated specifically to pectin gummy base production.

That expansion is about more than producing more gummy base. It gives us the infrastructure to support larger manufacturers as they scale.

Following the Science

Growth at Melt-to-Make has always gone hand in hand with product development.

Our team continues to research new formulations, ingredients and manufacturing solutions from our Northampton facility. Most recently, that work has included the development of our Prebiotic Fiber Pectin Gummy Base, expanding the possibilities for manufacturers developing sugar-free and functional gummy products.

As Sarah told the Gazette:

“It’s just following the science because the science is always years ahead of the trends.”

That philosophy continues to shape where Melt-to-Make goes next.

Whether we're developing new bases, working with ingredient and fast-acting technology partners, or helping established manufacturers improve production consistency, the goal remains the same: make the gummy manufacturing process easier to control, repeat and scale.

Proudly Made in Northampton, Massachusetts

While Melt-to-Make continues to expand nationally and internationally, Northampton remains home.

Our 27,000-square-foot facility in the Northampton Industrial Park gives us access to a strong local manufacturing community as well as food science talent from nearby UMass Amherst. The company currently employs approximately 35 people, with additional growth expected as our production capabilities expand.

As Co-Founder Tim Van Epps told the Gazette, Melt-to-Make plans to remain in Northampton for years to come.

We're proud of where we started, excited about where gummy manufacturing is headed, and grateful to the Daily Hampshire Gazette for sharing our story.
